      A new report from the AFL-CIO says Kansas was the 10th deadliest state for workers in 2011. The 78 workers killed on the job in that year equated to a death rate of 5.9 deaths per 100,000 workers. The report cites underfunding and a lack of staffing of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration as a factor in the 4,693 worker deaths due to traumatic injury nationwide in 2011.
